Q:What is “Thanksgiving day?”

A: Thanksgiving originated as a harvest festival. The Americans pray to God for harvest. The first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Pilgrims after the first harvest in the New world in October 1621.

Q:Why do American eat Turkey on thanksgiving day ?

A: It started with Bradford who wrote about how the colonists had hunted wild turkeys during the autumn of 1621 and turkey being a uniquely American bird. Turkey became the Thanksgiving meal of choice for Americans after Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863.
